Never did I think when I joined Toyhax that I would get to put my own design spin on the original G1 Optimus Prime toy… until Missing Link came along! I also wanted to remedy the lack of the vehicle launcher, so now you can decorate the front portion of the repair drone base like that black block.
For the first time EVER, G1 Prime gets a proper fifth wheel hitch plate! This and the other details on the rear of the trailer were carefully researched from 70s and 80s trucks and slightly stylized to stay consistent with that 1983 design philosophy.
These screens and flooring, I think, are the finest part of this set. I wanted to match the OS style of the vintage screens, so that it looked like this could have been made in 1983, if they just had a more robust sticker budget. I trimmed the trailer base labels in chrome, since chrome had a significant presence on Diaclone-era toys. The new floor is a mashup of the G1 and MP10’s layouts, while also clarifying that dense pack of vibrant colors into something a bit more balanced and readable. Now the floor better matches the walls!
